UFO weekend at Hotel Shirley, Bethungra, April 18-19 2015 – resounding success!!
Well we all met at Shirley’s on Saturday morning for what we call a ufo weekend (unfinished objects), and she will not be the same again, at least not for awhile anyway. Thankyou to everyone who came along and made it a wonderful, fun and fabulous weekend, one to remember for all the good reasons. We had the Shirley booked out, every room upstairs and downstairs packed full of fabric, machines, quilts, food, ladies sewing and chatting, lots of laughs and inspiration from what everyone was working on. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and got lots of sewing done – not my fault if they didn’t.
As usual, I got caught up in the buzz of the crowd, and forgot to get my camera out till halfway through, so there are a few snaps of the big room full of creative genius at work.
Below are the noisy ones, don’t think they got much done at all……..hmmmmm
The crowd consisted of a mix of locals and visitors, great to have everyone there, and appreciate the travelling of some who had a few hours drive home on Sunday.
Another chatty group, found them upstairs relaxing with the wine and cheese soon after this…..hmmmmm
This was a little of some of show and tell, Sarah’s Workshop Bag and Block n Roll, and below is Sharon’s version of Retreat Station – a couple of years in the making, but just a gorgeous quilt top now, well done.
As well as a horse panel that she has bordered.
To all those who could not make it along this time due to other commitments, it was decided by group concensus that we will organise another one again next year, bigger and better, so keep an ear out for details later in the year. If you are interested in putting your name on the list to come or want to find out more, please email me at janellenoack@gmail.com
Also would like to thank Sarah and Andrew at the Bethungra Hotel B&B (Shirley’s) for looking after us so well, and cooking us a delicious meal on Saturday night. The plans to eat outdoors in the beautiful gardens was ‘washed’ out, maybe next time. It was a great venue.
These photos of the back garden taken today, contact Sarah on 0428 481 988 for bookings and enquiries.
Thankyou to Gaylene and her crew at the Olde School Tea House, Bethungra for cooking us scrummy lunches both days and the scones were just the best ever.
Also Robyn with your trailer full of goodies, big effort and greatly appreciated. Hope you got to take Monday off, you deserved to.
As we all overdosed on food, coffee, chatting and catching up with old friends and making new ones, ideas don’t become reality without your commitment to come along and join in, so again a big thankyou for being part of a wonderful weekend, it makes the organising so much easier.
So now back to housework, hope you have all recovered and have been inspired in some way to keep your stitching moving along and maybe start a new project!!! – ready for next year!!!
Okay, till the next time we chat,
Janelle
