SYDNEY QUILT SHOW 2014

WOW – what a week it has been.  All started with a phone call to say I had WON A PRIZE in the 2014 Sydney Quilt Show.  I was gobsmacked to say the least, in utter disbelief.  So, with little time to think, plan and organise wether I would make the trek to Sydney on Tuesday to be there Wednesday morning for the opening ceremony to accept my prize, what would I do.  It was obvious, I would go.  Not knowing what my prize would be, excitement and nerves were high.

We decided before we got to the Sydney Quilt Show that a little detour to Quiltsmith on the way into Darling Harbour was needed to get us even more inspired, and I was in love with everything I saw.  Thankyou ladies for your patience with all the cutting!  Beautiful room  and dinner in the harbour, then next morning out to Glebe Island and the Convention Centre by ferry.  Beautiful sunny Sydney, a big change from home!

A little look around, and then into the business side of things…

Well, here I am, accepting my certificate and prize. Retreat Station, 2nd prize for commercially quilted quilt, a big red rosette to pin on my quilt, did not quite believe it until my name was actually read out.

Pinning it on myself – the quilt to my right (the white one) was the 1st prize winner.

I am very excited and  honoured and a big congrats also to Sarah Lennon of Piece by Piece Quilting,  Temora, who did the quilting, great job, thanks Sarah this is to you as well.

After proceedings, abit of shopping and admiring the quilts, many many gorgeous quilts, I don’t know how the judges decide.

I am home now, and still a little stunned and tired, but back to work for there is much to do.
