Road trip to Cooma

Road trip to Cooma

On 20 February I packed the car up with suitcases full of quilts and made the journey up to the mountains to the gorgeous town of Cooma.  Having not been there before, I was very happy to end the 3 1/2 hr drive at this little town, with green and muddy paddocks along the way and a cooler climate than at home.  I was thrilled to be asked to teach for the weekend and get to know new people over many cups of coffee and glorious food, not to mention a glass of wine  in the evenings with my housemate, Chris Jurd, from Patchwork Fundamentals.

So below are two versions of Gretels Garden, which was one of the projects for the weekend.  Patterns are available now, just an email to janellenoack@gmail.com if you would like one.  The pattern comes with the English paper piecing papers needed for the whole quilt.

Above is from left, Marnie who owns the lovely quilt shop The Fabric Salon, Vale Street, Cooma, Maggie, Janice and Fay.  Maggie and Fay where the organisers of the weekend and did a fabulous job, along with the endearing Helen, who was the run-around lady – catering to our every need and providing sooo much food, I think we did more eating than sewing!  Well done on a well run retreat.  Behind the ladies you can see the two quilts that the class worked on, as well as The Rockery quilt.

Above is Linda, Denise and Lee, with some of their work.  Behind them are the quilts that the very talented Chris Jurd taught in the other room. I was abit slow with the camera, so missed out on Maggie, Fay and Marnie’s show and tell – sorry ladies.  Below is Janice with a quilt that she had prepared earlier, it was very nice indeed.

Thankyou for having me Maggie and Fay, I had a great time and look forward to seeing you back there again next February, along with Chris.

Below is a finished project from last year, Sharon’s wonderful work as always, apologies for being late with it.  It is hard to see the detail but it was very striking.

Classes are all back and running for the year, as well as a few other day trips coming up soon.  I will try to keep you updated abit more this year.  On Friday I am off to Bribbaree to meet with all the girls over there for the day, and get them started on the Vera Gollasch quilt, looking forward to a great day out.

Till next time,

Janelle
