Well, I had planned to talk to you a couple of weeks ago, the time has slipped past, June is such a busy month. Anyway, just wanted to show you what was at the Lions Quilt Show in Young, it was a feast for the eyes, with beautiful quilts to look at all day and the other exhibits, stalls and lots of people to talk too. Thanks to everyone who came up and said hello, it was great to catch up with familiar faces and meet some new ones.
The quilts below took your breath away. They where on loan from Canberra, for a special treat Carmel and Jenny and the fabulous committee had organised for these quilts to be on display for the weekend. They are made by Indian men, often 8 hours a day is spent sewing, taking them around 6 – 8 weeks to complete a quilt. The boys learn from the age of about 8, and the drawing and planning of each quilt is amazing. The fabrics are all plain colours, and sewn by hand with stitches I could not see.
You may not be able to see, but the grey one below was all birds –
This one below was stunning…
And this one too…
From all accounts, the quilt show was a great success, but also due to all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. The ladies have already set the date for next years show, 23 – 24 May 2015, so make a note in your diaries.
The weather is extremely cold and the temperature out here in the office is not pleasant at all today. The little bar heater is not making any difference what so ever, so I might say goodbye for now, move to the lounge room where the fire is roaring. Hope to be back soon, take care, Janelle.
So you are still alive! Been Wondering what’s happened to your blog.
Hope you have a full class for Galong. They emailed me today re next year. They certainly are on the ball.
