Quilt Display at Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival and class happenings

It is a bitter cold day today, and decided this would be a good job for the afternoon to be talking to you and showing you some more of what has been happening.

On the June long weekend I travelled to Grenfell to be part of the Henry Lawson Festivities, setting up a stand for the day in an old shop.  I was not there alone, my great friend Lisa and I shared the building, my quilts on one side and her amazing hats on the other.

This is part of the display on my half of the shop,

I had lots of wall space to hang, and floor space for the tables to be spread out,

We had a great day with lots of people calling in.  The crowd was huge and I think they had a great weekend.  We certainly did not get to sit down much during the day, and it was great to meet so many new quilters in that area.

Below is a little sample of the gorgeous hats that Lisa had on display, if you would like to know more, you can visit her website, Lisa Schaefer Millinery.

I could not resist a photo of this as it went past in the parade…

Now, back to business, a little class show and tell, Marie’s beautiful combination of blues and beiges in this version of my  Mulberries of Amaroo quilt, made in the Wednesday class at Patchwork on Parker, had us all oohing and aahing. She should be very happy with how it has turned out.

Also, Helen is working hard on her 1/2″ hexies for her version of  The Prudence quilt, certainly addictive and grows quite quickly  in the beginning…

I have also been working on a couple of projects, my new quilt – The Vera Gollasch Quilt will be ready to show soon, some of you have already seen it at Young and Grenfell, I am working on borders as we speak, and I have also entered it into the Canberra Quilt show in August, if you get to go you will see it then, otherwise watch this space.

Also, if you have not already decided if you are going to the Galong Retreat on 24-26 October, sign up soon as classes and beds are filling up. The quilt below, Gretel’s Garden, is the project I am teaching this year, would love to see you all come and join me for a terrific weekend.

That is all for now, stay warm and well, keep the fingers working until next time,

Janelle
