Hi everyone, it was a hectic end to the year of 2013, a frosted and drought year for the farm meaning an early harvest, our son graduated from year 12 and consequently a few end of year functions and helping him get organised for this year starting uni, and generally too much to do and no time to do it. Even the sewing got left behind in the rush, a very disappointing year as far as designing etc goes, so bigger and better this year I hope!
Just about all I can say about my absence online is that I didn’t make time for it, so on my new years resolution list (along with a few other things) is to be a better blogger! Hopefully I can try to make up for some lost time, I am not the most confident computer person so when things don’t work I put it in the too hard basket and go and do something else (or I make a coffee and have more cake!)
To catch you up a little, below is a gorgeous hexy quilt that Kerry and Judy made (holding the corners) to donate to Can Assist, and handing it over to Marg for a raffle prize last Spring. Needless to say the winner was very happy to receive the phone call!
Next, is a little hexy bag that the night girls did as a little project, they could choose from two sizes, a 3/4″ hexagon for a small jewellery size bag, or a 1″ hexagon – giving many more options for its uses. It was quite a quick project to make and uses up a few of those scraps and leftovers.
More hexagons, a red quilt that I did manage to complete last year, it had been sitting in the cupboard only with a little quilting to finish off, and then some binding. I used leftover reproduction reds and I was really pleased with how it turned out.
Okay, bringing you up to Christmas, the Saturday girls just had to make one of these when I showed them what I had done with Anni Downes’ Christmas panel and the range of fabrics called 12 Days of Christmas. It was a gorgeous panel and made up perfectly for a wall hanging for Christmas or a special gift. Some of us made a couple!!
Catching up for January, well I went on holidays to the beach and did nothing for 2 weeks. However, I did take along some lucy boston blocks (couldn’t help myself – you know something to do in case we had rainy days and couldn’t go to the beach!), as well as a new project that I am working on for the Galong Retreat, held at the Galong Monastry on 25 and 26 October 2014. I will be a tutor there this year (very exciting) and my project will be revealed very soon, let’s just say it has a little of everything and it’s coming together nicely. If you would like more information or would even like to book, visit their website www.galongpatchwork.webs.com
Classes start back in February so I will have to get my self back to work well and proper and hopefully have more to share with you again soon.
Thankyou for visiting and being patient,
Janelle Noack
