Catching up
It has been a very busy past couple of months, so I am trying to remember what I have been up too and catch up with what has happened.
Since we last spoke, I had the enormous pleasure of being able to meet the amazing Di Ford. She came up to Ariah Park back in October for a day of sewing with us, there was quite a crowd and she has the most amazing quilts, if any of you have her book and as you can see a couple of them behind us in the photos. It was a great day, to finally meet her and see how she does it! We started on the Jane’s Garden quilt, to which I have not picked up since that day – so I am not showing you a picture of it yet till I have done abit more, but hoping over the summer I will get it out. Very inspiring to meet someone whom I consider to be one of the queen’s of patchwork.
This is the centre of Jane’s Garden
And these are the blocks surrounding it, absolutely gorgeous
All I will show you are the fabrics I took to make mine, the larger stripe to the left is my sashing fabric
Di was very open and forthcoming with lots of hints and tips to get it right
Thankyou Di for a great day.
Also, in October, was the Galong Retreat, held at St Clements Monestary in Galong. Great weekend of sewing and new friendships made. A terrific venue for a retreat, the committee and ladies did a marvellous job organising and catering and getting us to the dining room on time. Sewing, chatting, eating, drinking – what else can a girl ask for. Must apologise, as I forgot to take pics during the weekend, but below is the group hard at work, all day and half the night, we had the Castle room all to ourselves. Thanks for having us there, hope to be back soon.
And the final pose on Sunday, everyone say cheese…
This is the quilt they worked on “Gretel’s Garden” – you can see some of it behind the girls
This is it again, in darker colours to show a different point of view.
Just have the bottom flowers to do. The pattern for Gretel’s Garden will be printed up and available to the public in the New Year. Any pre-orders are most welcome now, just give me a bell.
Okay, that is all for now, see you all soon, and stay well
Janelle
