Hexagon Raffle quilt Circles of Hope

This is our hexagon quilt, Circles of Hope, that was made by myself and the lovely ladies that come to my Wednesday class at Patchwork on Parker.  The idea came last year that we should make a hexagon quilt, something everyone can contribute to, and donate it to a worthy cause and one that has been involved in our lives personally.  It is a massive 84″ x 100″, a rough count of over 2600 hexagons, all hand pieced with love and hope.  We donated it to Can Assist for a Mother’s Day raffle.  They were thrilled to have it and tickets are selling well so far.  Sonia from Patchwork on Parker donated the quilting (and did a great job), and that is also where you can get tickets if you are passing through Cootamundra.

This is the label on the back, also made from hexagons and machine embroidered by Barb.  It was a massive effort by all to get it done on time and secretly we are hoping that one of us will win it!

Hope you like it too, as much as we do, Janelle

Love this quilt. I have been working on a hexi quilt for some time but don’t know what to do with the edges. How was this quilt finished? Good job ladies.

    • Thanks Donna, we had a lot of fun making it and raised money for a worthy cause. We finished it off by trimming the hexagons back to a straight edge, then sewing on a 2 1/2″ cream border by machine. quilted and binded as normal. Hope this helps, Janelle.
