Clamshells at Bribbaree
Hexagons and gorgeous needleturn applique was on display when Irene Blanck flew up to see us all at Bribbaree last weekend to hold a workshop on making clamshells – Irene’s way. It was a fantastic day, misty rain and a champagne lunch all organised by Anne and her group. We loved sitting and listening to Irene talk about her quilts and the easy way in which she has done most of them, with some great tips and plenty of laughter along the way. She had show and tell of her quilts, they are just beautiful, as did some of the ladies that came, so we had a feast of quilts and inspiration, so that when it came time to go home, no one wanted to leave.
This was my attempt at the clamshells, a mix of blues, reds and burgundies, not sure how big it will go or what it will become at yet. Below is Irene standing next to her clamshell quilt, I hope I get to do another class with her one day and be inspired again.
This is the stunning little hexagon quilt, one of many she had on display, it was admired by many on the day!
This is Cathy, it was lovely to meet her and when we did show and tell at lunch time, I discovered that the quilt she held up was one of my designs, the quilt-as-you-go bom, Hopscotch! She had done a great job with it in softer colours than mine but still bright and cheery, and was up to the quilting stage. Make sure you send me a photo when you are finished.
Now if anyone is interested, I will be doing a weekend workshop at Deniliquin Heritage Fabrics on 23 and 24 March, I will be teaching my quilt-as-you-go design Whirlygig and Rose Garden which is a hexagon quilt. Please give Gillian or Joy a call on 03 5881 7225 if you would like to come, there are a couple of places still available.
Hope you enjoyed the pics, see you again soon,
Janelle
Thank you for joining us for a fabulous day. Irene has inspired us all to sit and stitch everyday, to put the fun back into stitching.
Hi Janelle
It was great meeting you and what a wonderful day I had, lots of laughter, fun and some sewing done in between. I’m glad that I’ve been able to inspire some of you to just get that sewing out and get it done – no more procrastinating!
I’ll be up there again soon and hope to see many of you again.
Irene
It was great meeting you and having just the best day. Thanks for watching my space, and maybe I can get a copy of some of the photos you took one day. Hope to see you next time, Janelle
Hi Janelle
